Gallery Collection
The textiles were woven by Lembata women who have organized themselves into weaving cooperatives. They are attempting to use their traditional skills and knowledge as a means of generating their own income, and as means of sustaining their vital heritage. Some of these textiles are highly valued ceremonial pieces. As you view them, please bear in mind that they have meaning as more than just skilled artworks. They are carries of our cultural identity and heritage.
